13 在安全选项对话框中，添入使用应用程序服务器的用户ID ,和密码。不要使用字符<or> 作为用户的ID 或是密码。添完之后，点Next.
14 Specify the destination directories and click Next.
15 在数据库选项对话框中 作如下步骤
1 作为数据库的类型，选择Oracle, 如果应用程序服务器将使用一个数据库是安装在不是你安装WebSphere应用程序服务器的机器时，点Remote Database 这个checkbox.
2 对于数据库的名字，给出使用的数据库的名字，缺省得是orcl.
3 对于数据库的User ID .专门定义你的用户名字。注意，如果你使用了一个不合法的User ID 去安装WebSphere ,那将在你登陆WebSphere Administrative Server 进行NT 服务时是不会成功的。如果你已经安装了Oracle 8i，ensure that you specify the
Username specified when configuring Oracle 8i for use with WebSphere Application Server（例如EJSADMIN）
4 对于密码和确认密码，输入你的密码。如果你早已经安装了Oracle 8i，请指定你的密码是你安装Oracle8i的时候的密码。
5 对于路径而言，指定数据库program的路径
6 对于URL ,指定用来访问数据库的URL 。你可能会喜欢使用default选项。
7 对于Server,指定包含数据库program的 服务器containing . 你可能会喜欢使用default选项。
8 对于端口号（port）,指定数据库的端口号，你可能会喜欢使用default选项。。
9 点 Next.
16 在接下来的两个对话框中点Next .开始按装。
17 在下一页指定readme .对于readme 的最新版本，或是版本notes 可以到产品站点

3 安装WebSphere应用服务器
你可以使用第一步对话框来测试WebSphere 的安装结果.你的Web服务器必须正在运行那个第一步对话框。通过选择
Start -> Programs -> IBM Websphere ->Application Server V4.0 -> First Steps.来访问这个对话框
作为选择，你可以坐下列的步骤来测试安装的结果：
1 再服务对话框点击已经被登陆的WebSphere管理服务器。打开控制面板，选择服务，如果你向下滚动你会看到IBM WS AdminServer.
2 通过选择IBM WS AdminServer 启动服务。接着选择Start.
你可能需要等待一会儿，如果服务器开启缓慢，或是没有成功的启动，你应该看一看\WebSphere\AppServer\logs\tracefile log.的最后一行。如果这个trace文件说：server is open for e-business,那么服务就已经被启动了。
提示：你可应通过命令行控制服务或是批处理文件，命令如下：
net start "IBM WS AdminServer"
net stop "IBM WS AdminServer"
3 启动服务器，运行administrative console,这是你用来管理WebSphere 应用程序服务器4.0的
从Start菜单，选择Programs-> IBM WebSphere -> Application Server 4.0-> Administrator’s Console.
这会启动WebSphere 管理Console 的
4 当WebSphere 管理Console打开后，树状菜单就会显示出来，点几+ 符号，进入WebSphere Administrative Domain 的扩展视图。你的host name 应该在Nodes 中被列出来。Expand the view of your host name node and of Application Servers, and you should
see an entry called Default Server. 在Default Server 右击鼠标右键。为了确定服务器正在运行，可以在DefaultServer 上右键点击，并选择Ping. 在显示出一个信息对话框后，说明服务器正在运行，点击OK
一旦服务器启动了，必须把应该运行的configuration 数据库标示出来，如果服务器停止了，或是如果你重新启动机器，管理服务器将会自动从新启动，即使管理服务器失败了，它也会继续运行的。
5 测试服务器，确信IBM HTTP服务器正在运行，（IBM HTTP Server 的状态在服务对话框中，这是从Control Panel 访问的。显示Started）,如果，IBM HTTP服务没有在运行，使用服务对话框中的Start选项来启动服务器。或是选择Start -> Programs -> IBM HTTP Server -> Start HTTP Server.
接着，打开一个浏览器,go to http://localhost/servlet/snoop （这是标准的在安装时是缺省得servlet，你可以看/servlet/snoop 的信息。
5 用一个EnterpriseBean测试（可选）
在安装WebSphere应用程序服务器后，你可以用Inc例子，来测试一个enterprise bean.
1 进入管理console.
2 确定缺省服务器和Inc bean已经开启了
3 启动你的Web browser 并指定Url 地址。http://your_host/webapp/examples/HitCount.
你应该看一下选定的web page.
4 从Generate hit count using 列表中，选择Enterprise JavaBean .从Transaction Type 列表中,选择None.
5 点击Increment.
The number of hits should display.
为 standalone operations 设置TCP/IP可选项。
如果你的系统无法连接到网络上，你必须为standalone operations安装WebSphere 应用程序服务器
为了在你的系统设置standalone operations，你必须应经安装了TCP/IP networking,如果你将要运行WebSphere 应用程序服务器作为standalone(而不是连接到网络上)，你的host name ,必须保持fixed.
WebSphere 由于with the administration and other aspects rely upon the IP networking所以 应用程序服务器是一个可以被群集到一个简单的领域的”networked”系统。当这个产品第一次被启动的时候，它会记录下host 的名字。当它启动时，它将能够再次连结IP地址。如果你希望使用WebSphere应用程序服务器"disconnected",你必须能够经常性的成功的”ping” 你的host name
如果你需要set up一个固定的IP地址，对于Windows NT,进入控制面版的Adapter 标签的Network section
安装MS Loopback Adapter.
接着，到Protocols 标签，打开TCP/IP属性，定义一个固定的（10.0.0.1 ）TCP/IP地址(which is an address reserved for private use and thus appropriate for standalone operations), and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.(如图)
没有针对adapter而定义的缺省得网关。到Bindings标签，选择all protoco，扩展TCP/IP Protocol,
