G.729 CODEC
簡介：
G.729語音壓縮標準為 Conjugate-Structure Algebraic Code Excited Linear Prediction (CS-ACELP) ，是基於CELP模式所發展出來的技術，其所使用的語音時框為10mS，而每一時框有80個取樣值。在每?mS的時間內，語音訊號會被分析，並基於CELP的架構，取出其特性參數，然後編碼成80個位元，最後原本的語音訊號會被轉換成一連串的參數值傳送到接收端，達到了語音壓縮的目的。
G.729 語音壓縮標準的應用非常廣泛，如VoIP網路閘道、IP電話、視訊會議和電話會議等。ITU當初制定G.729語音壓縮標準時，為了使其具有低位元率、高音質、卻又低複雜度的特性，在G.729演算法中運用了相當多的專利技術，其中大部分的專利為國際各大主要電信業者所持有，這些公司包括法國電信（France Telecom）、Universite de Sherbrooke及日本電報電話公司（NTT）。他們逾1998年3月組織了G.729專利聯盟，並委由Sipro Lab Telecom公司作為此聯盟的代表，負責處理各專利授權問題。業者必須事先獲得相關專利授權許可，方能合法使用生產ITU G.729相關產品。
關於G.729A的說明：

Bit Rate : 8kbps （80 bits per frame）

G.729A/B專利政策：
根據ITU-T Partent Statement and Licensing Declaration Database （as at 02 June 2004）中所列示有關G.729的專利件數共有42件。這42件專利皆發表ITU-T專利政策中的第2.2項聲明，其內容如下：
The patent holder is not prepared to waive his rights but would be willing to negotiate licenses with other parties on a bob-discriminatory basis on reasonable terms and conditions.Such negotiations are left to the parties concerned and are performed outside the ITU-T.
表示這些專利的專利權人並未放棄任何他們的權力，任何專利的使用必須獲得專利權人的同意。也就是說，在使用ITU-T G.729的標準之前，你必須事先取得這些相關專利之專利人的授權。
