Prototypes of multimedia product

 

This multimedia product is built for foreign children to help them learn English whom aged between 7 and 10. In these foreign children’s country, English is not their first language.

 

Navigation

 

In this product, there are three main parts. As we can see from figure 1, the three parts include Songs, Games and Words.

When the mouse point the different button, the picture in the middle will change to relevant picture which can describe the parts very clearly.

Layout
The users are 7 to 10 years old children; so the layout which I designed is a little childish that is closer to children. I think they will prefer this kind of layout.

 

And also the color I chose is prefer bright, such as bright green and Light Goldenrod Yellow which I think is stand for motion and vivacity. For these children is easier to accept.

 

I used some cartoon elements, such as cartoon dog, cartoon teacher and etc…

Further more, the button will make sound when click it and also, the cartoon dog will change another position, it is funnier than the dog stay at the same position I thought.

 

Functions

 

There is a help button at the right hand corner on each page, if there is any question or problem, children can click the button and find out the answer. However, helping button is still under construction. This function will be completed later.

 

And also, on every page, there is a back button; children can choose every part which they prefer at anytime.

Content

 

l        Songs

 

There are some children’s songs in this part, such as Jingle Bells, Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas and etc. these songs are close to children’s life, they can sing the song when they have party or some thing like that.

 

The scene is designed like a book, at the left hand side, it is the lyric, and at the right hand side, it is a picture that children can understand the scene very easily.

 

I think the most important part for this scene is the lyric.

Lyric will display accompany with the music, so that when children listen to the music, they can read the lyric and they will be very glad to learn the song, because they can sing the song with the product. As shown from figure 2 and 3.

l        Words

 

Form Figure 4 we can see:

 

There is a simulative keyboard in the screen, 26 letters, when click on the letter button, it will make sound of that letter.

 

At meantime, at the right hand side, there will display some easy words begin with the letter which just clicked form the keyboard.

 

And also, when press the button of the word, there will display a picture at the left hand side which relevant to the word, children can understand the meaning of the word very easily. And also, when the button pressed, it will give the pronunciation. It is a very good way for Children to increase their vocabulary and correct their pronunciation.

l        Game

 

This part will provide some games for children.

 

However, these games not only for children to have fun, and also it will help them to memory the words, pronunciation and spelling.

 

During the gaming, they will type the words, listening to the words; get the meaning of the words. They will interest in the games, and they will learn English in the games. They will enjoy them.
