Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition Beta 1 Manual Setup Instructions

Please read the following before you continue:

• It is highly recommended that you first try using the automated Web installer. It is a much simpler experience. Your participation is critically important in helping us gather Beta feedback and usage information so that we can resolve issues and improve the experience. Please use manual installation as a last resort.
  
  
• Please read Express Download Known Issues before you proceed.
  
  
• Please reboot if there is a reboot request. Do NOT postpone it to a later time as it can cause the installer to fail.
  
  
• In order to improve the installation experience we would like to understand the reasons for the manual install of the product. Please click here to log your feedback so that we can continue to learn about and improve the product acquisition experience.

If you run into a download issue, please follow the steps below to download and install Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition Beta.

[If you want to save the package for later use, please click Save and select a destination when the File Download dialog box appears.]

1. Download and install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Beta:

   Download Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Beta (25 MB). Click Open to install the product.

2. [Optional] Download and install Microsoft Visual J# .NET Redistributable Package 2.0 Beta:

   Microsoft Visual J# Redistributable Package 2.0 is required to develop with Visual J# in Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition Beta.

   Download Microsoft Visual J# .NET Redistributable Package 2.0 Beta (4 MB). Click Open to install the product.

3. Download and install Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition Beta:

   Download Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition Beta (44 MB). Click Open to install the product.

4. [Optional] Download and install Microsoft MSDN Express Library 2005 Beta:

   The MSDN Express Library contains additional product documentation for all Visual Studio Express Editions.

   Download Microsoft MSDN Express Library 2005 Beta (162 MB). Click Open to install the product.

5. [Optional] Download and install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Beta:

   SQL Server Express is an easy-to-use version of SQL Server 2005 designed for building simple data-driven applications.

   Download SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Beta (36 MB). Click Open to install the product.
